We all remember what it felt like to be kids. To have that excitement and joy. That innocence. Discovering the world through the eyes of a child with wonder and curiosity.
We want that for our kids and teens as well, however living in today's world, it may seem more and more difficult to connect with your child and give them that childhood you experienced.
So what are some things we can do? How can we bring that connection back in such a disconnected society?
Two main things are very important to remember here and those are:
Vulnerability
and
Fun
This is how we connect the family back.
Taking moments to connect and be vulnerable with one another is key for connection. Let your own walls down with your family. As long as your children don't feel responsible to fix your emotions or problems, vulnerability is a beautiful tool for families to connect.
Next, figure out even one activity that your family finds fun to do together. There are endless possibilities here.
Could be a game, decorating the house for a holiday, watching a movie and making pizza or popcorn, baking together ❤️
Whatever it may be, write down a list of some ideas that everyone would be excited to do. Excited is the key word here. Also, keep in mind dynamics and set the tone beforehand. If arguing happens, how will it be dealt with etc. You are the parent. You set the tone. Don't micromanage. This is a time for your kids to see YOU laughing and having fun too.
Below share one of your fondest family connection memories from your childhood ❤️
Some of our staff's memories are:
